IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. (WROC) — A local woman-owned business celebrated 6 years of providing the community with wellness services on Sunday.
Healthy Alternatives Wellness Center is owned by Carol Scheg-Morissette, a Reiki master teacher and an Integrated Therapy master. Having opened just a month before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down local businesses, Healthy Alternatives has persevered as a space that prioritizes the well-being of visitors from a “mind, body, and spirit” perspective.
“I got started because I had a lot of health problems myself, and all the modalities that I offer here are what helped me get better, so I offer them to others,” Scheg-Morissette said. “I think if you don’t have your health, you’re gonna really struggle; it’s really important to keep track of your health.”
A variety of holistic treatments, including mental health counseling, wellness workshops, salt baths, energy treatments, yoga sessions, meditations, and sound healing, are offered for those seeking services that may address chronic pain, anxiety, depression, or looking to reduce daily stress.
